At the risk of sounding like a winner at the Grammy's, I would like to thank my Grandparents Harlan and Elma Palmer for getting me started with horses as a youngster.
The creation of Milton Equestrian Center in 1989 could not have happened without the help of my big brother Ken --THANK YOU!
My parents, Joyce and Donald, were supportive, though skeptical, in the beginning and have remained loyal "moral supporters". They also have at times assisted with those WONDERFUL "no interest, pay back when you can" parent loans when times were not so good -- God Bless Them!
Sister Donna Ruth and her daughter Michelle were wonderful helpers at EVERY Horse Show in our early years. Donna's other daughter Carla was a live-in Summer Camper for years and a successful competitor in the shows. Soon to be married in 2011, she still rides her horse "Imagine That!".
Grandmother Ruthie and Aunt Carole have helped me through some really bad times, too...
Middle brother Bruce and baby brother Scott help out with mechanical and electrical repairs and improvements whenever asked, even though they live about 2 hours away!
I am fortunate that all my boarders and students have become my friends and extended family. The majority of them have been with me for more than a decade. Even those who have now gone on to college and/or moved away still stop by and ride when they are in town -- some of them bring THEIR children for "pony rides" -- How lucky can one person be?
Over the years, more than 500 people have started their riding career here, and I thank them all for their support. They know who they are.
However, a good Riding Instructor can't offer a great experience without GREAT HORSES! Sooo many have passed through our lives over the years and we remember them all for their special traits, their patience, and their commitment to their job. Who can't remember their first lesson on Captain, then Macho, Molly, Smokey, Pridey, Skipjack, Mark, Change, Lucky, Scout, Blue, Hank, Staar, Sherlock, Cagney -- to list all of them would fill this entire website! I am grateful to them and to the people who shared them with me. And we can't forget our small 4-legged friends Kenneth, LeRoy, Ruth and Agey, Leo, Hey You, Pumpkin, Nick, Bill, Rafferty 1 and Rafferty 2, Donald, Bessie, Andi, Gilligan, Orphan Annie... I will run out of room....
I do not have children of my own by choice --my dream was to have a "happy place" for kids, their animals, and their dreams. For many years, I had 20+ campers in my home from the day school was out until the day before the kids went back -- dream come true for all! I STILL don't know how I did it....!!
!!! THANK YOU !!!
