He must have changed his mind as he wandered away a month after he arrived... we think Dahna Ruth may have been mean to him.

We DID find him a year later, happy with a new family.....

Meet Bruce (named after my middle brother) who sure looks a lot like our beloved Bob-Cat.  He arrived from the SPCA mid-November 2011 and we hope he sees no need to leave.  He has made peace with Dahna... 

Bruce, just like his human namesake, isn't much of a people-person.  Scott, on the other hand, LOVES everyone!!

 Meet Scott (named after my baby brother) who arrived from the SPCA with Bruce.  What a lovebug!  Licks you all over (loves faces the best!).  And even though he likes to catch mice, helping Karen with hay is his "cat's meow"! (Guess he wants me to hurry up -- do ya think he'll push the tire?)

We got them together, hoping they would bond with each other and not let Dahna Ruth intimidate them.  Seemed to work! 

NO IT DIDN'T!!!!  Found Scott 1/4mi away on the side of the road.  He is buried in the woods near Elly's baby.... SO many people are SO sad.....

 Bruce was devastated, as most of us were.  So I promised him I'd get him a new orange kitty, but this time a female.

So here is Paula.  Made herself right at home helping Karen with paperwork.

In real-life, Paula is Bruce's wife.  We'll see how it goes in kitty-world.

Brielle says that it is hard to have a "favorite" at Miss Karen's, but if she HAS to choose, she'll pick Hope!

 One of our youngest additions!  Kate turned 3yo in December 2011 and is getting ready for her ride on Austin on cold night!

What an easy life!  Cherokee has a friend who visits simply to brush and pamper him.... lots of goodies, too!

Ms. Elly wears support boots overnight after her lessons; Kathy says that a hot bath and Tylenol work for her!

Carey visits her buddy Billy while home on break from the University of Vermont.  Carey started riding with us in June 2001...a good friend, and GREAT rider! 

Lisa, an extraordinary dog groomer, "works out" at the stables on her days off.  Call her at 302-604-4534 if your pets need a beauty treatment! 

Kay (Floyd's favorite Senior Rider) prepares him for their weekly morning jaunt around the farm....

...back home an hour later!  What a handsome pair! We won't tell you Kay's age but, if Floyd were a person, he'd be 10 years younger than she is..... 

Floyd and his Mom, Leslie, decided it's too wet to ride outside, so they finish their ride in the Indoor Arena today. 

 Joanie and Finn brave the cold, wet weather for a while, but they soon come inside, too.

Floyd and Cherokee enjoy their ride with Leslie and Lois (Lois ADORES Cherokee!).  A pretty day!!

 "Chef" Allison prepares dinner for Cherokee. (Working for us Summer 2011 is Allie's first official summer job -- they sure grow up fast!  Allie started riding here at age 3.....).  "Sweet 16" January 2012!

 3yo Kate does a fabulous job grooming Austin (Karen does the high parts!).

 You all read in the News that KELLY IS BACK -- yeah!!!! NOBODY does it like she does it, for sure!

Not to mention that all the critters (and the customers) love her as much as she loves them!

 Ashley and Adam trailer in Rascal and Hank for their regular trimmings -- our farrier is happy to oblige them! (They find it hard to find a farrier to come for just two trims, at a time which is convenient for all; so trailering works best!)

Hope was soooo timid in the beginning, but Floyd is a great confidence builder -- they have come a long way together! 

 Sophia and Cherokee about to get ready for their lesson.  Sophia has just now started cantering and thinks it's great!!

 Debra takes a break from weekday lessons to enjoy a day at the beach with Cherokee.

 Shortly thereafter, Condo gets a visit from Meghan, Shylah, Luke, and Makai for a combined birthday lesson -- great fun!

Robb survived his first trail ride on Cherokee, spooks and all!  Great job! 

The next day, Janice and Kid join us and pose by one of the fences on the cross-country course.  Kid was too interested in the grass to stand still for the picture to the right, but he WAS here! 

Harry and Stitch were wandering Fair Hill for their first time and decided to hang out with us for the rest of the day -- it's an easy place to get lost in!!

Vacationing from Pennsylvania, Hannah and Abby with Hope, and Lee with Cherokee have their first "horse experience" ever!  Such fun, they are coming back in a few days!  Great job by all!

Cherise on Hope, Lisa on Cherokee, her son Ace on Donkey, with daughter Ryann as a helper, are ready to hit the fields for their lesson.  Too nice to ride inside today! 

Joe and Cherokee are ready for a nice early evening lesson -- a handsome pair! 

Vicky and Finn enjoy a nice canter in the Outdoor Ring... and Finn got the correct lead on the first try!!! (Private Joke!) 

Megan at her second day of lessons rides Cherokee today.  She rode Hope yesterday, will ride Austin tomorrow, and Condo day after that.... 

 Grace visited us a couple of days while on vacation from Illinois.  Here she enjoys a canter on Billy, who reminds her of her favorite horse "Buttercup" at home.

 Liam on Floyd and big brother Conor on Condo enjoy a great afternoon lesson. (Mom Bobbie and Karen just took off leadropes and moved aside for the picture.  Note that these new riders are not yet using a bridle, but Rainbow Reins on halters.  Condo and Floyd are great friends, huh?)  Snazzy helmets, too!

Condo, Floyd, Cherokee, Hope and Finn with friends Paul and Marie and their kids Audrey, Carmen, and Lauren. This is their second summer; last year, they shared horses.  This year they all have their own! Next year?? Who knows!

Pop-Pop Baker helps Granddaughter Madison prepare Billy for a peaceful ride at Redden with several of her friends.  What a wonderful guy he is!  Madison and Billy have come a long way -- a great team! 

 Ainsley from Rochester, NY, enjoys her second lesson on Cherokee while vacationing with Grandmother Dorine from Bridgeville.  Ainsley says she'll see us at Summer Camp next year!

Victoria, who usually rides in the Tuesday morning "old lady class", enjoys a Thursday early evening trail ride on Hope -- soooo peaceful! 

Jacob and Pop-Pop Mark visit from Pennsylvania for a lesson on Donkey.  Jacob is a super rider and says he wants to come back and try some of the other horses!!

Addison and Grace share another lesson on Donkey.  Today, 04/03/13, is his last day at Kershaw Acres.... he is returning to his "mom" Elena in Townsend.  What a great teacher he has been for everyone here and we will miss him!
