We have had great fun with Girl Scout Troops and other children's groups! Sometimes their visits are for Badge Work, other times they come just for a fun "outing."
For safety purposes, we typically put the Scouts in teams of two and they share a horse. (The exception to this is if they have been here before and we know their ability levels.)
The event begins with a short safety discussion and a question/answer period. Then, under supervision, the children share the responsibility of grooming and saddling their assigned horse. Next, working in pairs, they take turns learning to lead and ride the horse. It works really well, and keeps everyone actively involved! At the end of the riding session the horses are unsaddled and given a "horse cookie"; then there is another question/answer period.
Please call ahead to discuss and schedule this activity. Depending on the age of the children and the size of the group, we may involve additional equestrians to supervise and assist the children.
The fee for this program is typically $35 per horse per hour, and will be finalized once we confirm the details of YOUR special outing! We accept cash or personal check. As with all our activities, a Liability Release is required.
We ask that you make an appointment before stopping by. We give our undivided attention to the activity at hand, and want to do the same for YOU!
WARNING - under Delaware Law, an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risk of equine activities, pursuant to 10 Delaware Code Section 8140.
